Once (однажды), there was (жил- был) an old man (старина) Johnny Grundy,

He (он) began (начинал) to lament (причитать):
– Oh (о), dear (Боже)! Oh (о), dear (Боже)! See here (посмотрите)! See here (посмотрите)!
– Again (опять) overslept (поспал) my (мой) Weekend (выходной).
He (он) rushed (выбежал) from (из) his (своего) house (дома) in (в) different (разных) socks (носках).
On (на) his (своем) way (пути) he (он) stumbled (споткнулся) and (и) his (свою) head (голову) he (он) cocked (наклонил набок),

JOHNNY GRUNDY
Once, there was an old boy Johnny Grundy,
At noon, he woke up every Monday.

On his way he stumbled and his head he cocked,

DINA (ДИНА) – BALERINA (БАЛЕРИНА)
Once (однажды) a big (большая) elephant (слониха) Dina (Дина)
Became (стала) ballerina (балериной),
One day (однажды), she (она) took to the stage (вышлана сцену),
And (и) she (она) started (начала) her (свой) dancing (танец) with (со) passion (страстью), with (с) rage (азартом).
Jumping (прыгая), she (она) broke (сломала) two (две) ballet (балетные) scenes (сцены),
Thrice (трижды) trampled (затоптала) a few (несколько) ballerinas (балерин).
The whole (всей) troupe (труппой) kicked her off (выпроваживала ее со) the stage (сцены).
DINA – BALERINA
Once a big elephant Dina
Became ballerina,
One day, she took to the stage,
And she started her dancing with passion, with rage.
Jumping), she broke two ballet scenes,
Thrice trampled a few ballerinas.
The whole troupe kicked her off the stage.
HOW (КАК) BEES (ПЧЕЛЫ) PUNISHED (ПРОУЧИЛИ) AN EVIL (ЗЛОГО) AND (И) GREEDY (ЖАДНОГО) BEAR (МЕДВЕДЯ)
Once (однажды), a bear (медведь) Clumsy (Кривая) Paw (Лапа) walked (шел) through (через) a forest (лес), hungry (голодный), seeking (ища) for some (немного) food (еды) to eat (поесть). Suddenly (неожиданно), he (он) saw (увидел) a bee (пчелу) Buzzy (Жужу), flying (летящую) towards (к) him (нему).
– Hello (привет), bear (медведь), Clumsy (Кривая) Paw (Лапа)!
– Hello (привет) you (тебе), too (тоже), little (маленькая) Bee (пчелка) Buzzy (Жужа)! Where (куда) do you (ты) fly to (летишь)?
– I’m (я) flying (лечу) to (на) the far (дальний) meadow (луг). The red (красный), sweet (сладкий), clover (клевер) bloomed (зацвел) in there (там).
– May (можно) I (я) go (пойду) with (с) you (тобой), and (и) taste (попробую) the (этого) sweet (сладкого), red (красного), clover (клевера)?
– Of course! (Конечно) Let’s go (пошли)! The meadow (луг) is big (большой) and (и) there (там) is enough (достаточно) clover (клевера) for (для) everyone (каждого).
Bee (пчела) Buzzy (Жужа) flew (полетела) forward (вперед) and (а) bear (медведь) Clumsy (кривая) Paw (лапа) hobbled (поковылял) after (за) her (ней).
They (они) came (пришли) to (на) the meadow (луг). And (а) there (там) is clover (клевер), like (как) a red (красный) carpet (ковер).
The bee (пчела) began (начала) to fly (перелетать) from (с) flower (цветка) to (на) flower (цветок), collecting (собирая) sweet (сладкий) nectar (нектар). But (а), the bear (медведь) grabbed (ухватил) several (несколько) flowers (цветков) with his (своей) paw (лапой), chewed (пожевал) them (их), and (и) spat (выплюнул) them (их) out.
– Is this (этого) enough (достаточно) to satisfy (удовлетворить) hunger (голод)?
By (к) this (этому) time (времени) Buzzy (Жужа) is going (собирается) to fly (лететь) back (обратно), already (уже), with (с) full (полными) buckets (ведрами) of flower (цветочного) nectar (нектара).
– Give (дай) me (мне) one (одно) bucket (ведро). I (я) want (хочу) to taste (попробовать). – Clumsy (кривая) Paw (лапа) begs (просит).
– No (нет), bear (миша)! – Little (маленькая) bee (пчелка) says (говорит) to him (ему). – I (я) cannot (не могу) give (дать) you (тебе) this (этот) nectar (нектар). These (эти) buckets (ведра) I (я) will carry (отнесу) to (в) the hive (улей). And (и) from (из) this (этого) nectar (нектара) we (мы) shall make (сделаем) sweet (сладкий) fragrant (душистый) honey (мед) and (и) feed (накормим) our (наших) babies (малышей). But (но), if (если) I (я) give (отдам) nectar (нектар) to you (тебе), then (то) our (наши) children (дети) will remain (останутся) hungry (голодными).
– Ah (а), – the bear (медведь) got angry (рассердился), – then (тогда) I (я) will come (приду), and (и) take away (отберу) all (весь) your (ваш) honey мед)!
– See (смотри), how (какой) big (большой) and (и) strong (сильный) I am (я). And (а) you (вы) are tiny (маленькие). What (что) can (можете) you (вы) do (сделать) to me (мне)? Bee (пчела) Buzzy (Жужа) didn’t say (не сказала) anything (ничего). She (она) just (только) buzzed (зажужжала) angrily (сердито) and (и) flew (полетела) to (в) her (свой) beehive (улей).
All (весь) day long (день) little (маленькая) bee (пчела) Buzzy (Жужа) and (и) her (ее) girl-friends (подруги) had been flying around (летали), collecting (собирая) the flower (цветочный) nectar (нектар). Full (полные) honeycombs (соты) turned out (получились).
And (и) here (тут) the bear (медведь) came out (вышел) tired (уставший) of (из) the forest (леса), hungry (голодный) and (и) angry (злой).
– Bees (пчелы), give (отдавайте) me (мне) my (мой) honey (мед)! – Bear (медведь) roars (рычит).
Bees (пчелы) were (были) surprised (удивлены).
– Is this (это) your (твой) honey (мед)? Did you (ты) fly (летал) to (на) the meadow (луг)? Did you (ты) collect (собирал) nectar (нектар) from (с) flowers (цветов)? Did you (ты) make (делал) honey (мед) from (из) this (этого) nectar (нектара)?
– No (нет), bear (медведь), we (мы) shall not give (не дадим) you (тебе) any (никакого) honey (меда)!
– Ah (ах), don’t you (вы) give (не отдадите) it (его) to me (мне)? – Clumsy (Кривая) Paw (Лапа) roars (ревет) louder (громче).
– Well (ну), I’ll (я) take (заберу) it (его) from (у) you (вас), then (тогда). And (и) I (я) will turn (переверну) your (ваши) hives (ульи) upside down (вверх дном).
And (и) bear (медведь) hobbled (поковылял) to (к) beehives (ульям).
Bees (пчелы) grew very (очень) angry (рассердились). They (они) began (начали) to gather (собираться) in (в) a swarm (рой). And (а) then (потом) they (они) attacked (набросились на) the bear (медведя). And (и) they (они) began (начали) to sting (жалить) him (его) from (со) all (всех) sides (сторон).
The bear (медведь) spanned крутился), (вертелся) spanned, trying (пытаясь) to fight off (отбиться от) the bees (пчел). Finally (наконец), Clumsy (Кривая) Paw (Лапа) was (был) not (не) able (способен) to withstand (выдерживать) the bees’ (пчел) stings (укусы). He (он) turned back (повернулся) and (и) began (начал) to run (убегать) away (прочь), trying (пытаясь) to escape (спастись) from (от) the bees (пчел). Only (только) his (его) hairless (безволосые) soles (подошвы) flashed (сверкали) through (сквозь) the forest (лес).
